Daniel Hand football won big against Fairfield Prep. The Tigers are rolling after beating New London in their first game and a well-regarded Fairfield Prep team 34-3. After getting off to a slow start in the first half against Berlin, they picked up their stride in the second half beating the Red Coats 44-14. Last week Hand defeated Hillhouse 26-0 in an easy defeat. This win made the Tigers #2 in Connecticut on the GameTimeCT “Top 10 Football Poll.” Their next game is October 25th at Cheshire.
The Tigers boys s team has also started off well with a record of 12-2-2 with quality wins over Wilbur Cross, Guilford and Fairifeld Prep. They tied against Shelton and Guilford and lost against Xavier twice. In an interview with GameTimeCT, Head coach Mike Shirley said the team's success lies in the midfield, made up of the senior trio of Ernesto Barrosa, Ethan Skonieczny, and Max Wheeler. The team is ranked #1 in Class M rankings and #8 in the CIAC.
